includes: Certificate, complimentary
cocktail and bragging rights.
Arrive at the historic Buena Vista Estate before 11:45 a.m. and step into The Tavern, where time slows and the rum of The Bahamas welcomes you. Our master mixologist will greet you with our almost-famous JOHN WATLING’S Piña Colada—handcrafted with our signature rum, fresh pineapple, and a swirl of creamy coconut. Sip, savor, and let the rhythm of Nassau set the tone for your adventure.
At 11:55 a.m., your host will guide you along the breezy, palm-lined path to our cannon. As you walk, holding your drink in your hand, feel the anticipation building—these types of signal cannons once stood as proud sentinels of Bahamian shores, protecting the island from would-be invaders.
Gather at the firing site to witness the West Indian Guard in full regalia. Their precision drill and ceremonial movements honour centuries of tradition, blending history with the unique flair of The Bahamas.
With the crowd gathered, you become the master of ceremonies. All eyes turn to you as you raise your voice for the 10-second countdown. The energy builds with each number—10… 9… 8—until the air crackles with excitement.
Your hand presses the button. Simultaneously, the cannon roars to life with a thunderous BOOM, echoing across the estate and out toward the harbor. The ground trembles beneath your feet. You’ve not only witnessed Bahamian history—you’ve made it.
Experience the art of mixology, indulge in a guided rum tasting, create your own keepsake with self-bottling, or gain bragging
rights by firing our cannon, all at John Watling’s – where tradition and craftsmanship come to life.
